A Stunning Comeback! Valve Makes an Exception to Allow BCG to Qualify for the PGL Major Singapore 2026 Through the Asia Region

The team has been deemed eligible to qualify for the Major through the Asia region.

Valve updated its list of exceptions to tournament operating requirements on GitHub, and one ruling allows BC.Game to compete for qualification to PGL Major Singapore 2026 through the Asia region.

An update on GitHub reads: “BC.Game (asap, Magisk, mzinho, s1mple, Senzu) has been assigned to the Asia region and is eligible for a Major invitation.”

The day before granting this exception, Valve had revised its Valve Regional Standings region-transfer rules, stating that “a roster is eligible for regional assignment only if it has not appeared on the Valve Regional Standings list of any other region during the previous three calendar months.” This meant any regional change would take three months to take effect, preventing teams from moving from stronger regions to weaker ones, where fewer Valve Regional Standings points are available, as a last-ditch attempt to qualify for a Major.

The change was aimed at Sashi's late switch to an Asia-based core in pursuit of qualification for PGL Major Singapore 2026, but it also affected teams such as BC.Game and Well-Worn. In response to an inquiry from HLTV, Valve said those teams had been ruled ineligible to qualify for the Major unless “they proactively reached out and found a solution.”

BC.Game CEO asks to start over: “Take all our points.” Community reaction to the decision has been mixed. Some commentators and fans praised Valve’s swift response, while others acknowledged that the change was necessary but unfairly penalized BC.Game without advance notice, as the team had been planning a long-term adjustment. BC.Game CEO Ako even asked to restart on the Asia Valve Regional Standings with zero points, allowing the team to compete for a spot with only three weeks remaining. TaZ said the new rule was “hard for him to accept.”

The Polish coach added that BC.Game would appeal its case to Valve and respect the final decision. That appeal has now proved successful, with Valve formally granting the team an exception that allows it to be assigned to the Asia region despite missing the three-month deadline. This means BC.Game’s Major spot is almost confirmed, as the team had previously been listed as having a locked invitation on the HLTV Major Qualification Simulator.
