Today, we’re taking a closer look at a skin from the Arabesque-series skins: the Covert skin Sovereign Flame, inspired by Arab art and Arabian mythology.

This skin was made by creator kenN. The creator’s most recently accepted skin was Galil AR | Galilgator from Dead Hand Terminal; when you fire, the crocodile’s big mouth opens and closes like Chatterbox. 🐊🐊I’m the most magical kitty!🐊🐊

And in The Arabesque Collection, Valve also ended up selecting one of his AWP skin designs as a Covert skin. Now let’s take a look at this skin’s design and details~

This skin is called Sovereign Flame, and on the Chinese server it is translated as Sovereign Flame. Its design also shows a flame-like look, blending classical luxury with mysterious power. True to its name, its design blends the Arabesque art sense of regal opulence with the Arabian mythology motif of wild flames, turning this AWP into a mythical weapon that feels pulled straight from a treasure vault.

The skin draws heavily on the essence of traditional Arabic art, giving the weapon a distinctly regal presence. The body uses intricate gold engraving, with gold relief details covering the center of the weapon body and the entire scope. These engravings use classic Arabic-style ornamentation, where complex geometry interweaves with flowing vine scrollwork to create an aesthetic that feels ordered yet almost endlessly extending.

Even on the often-overlooked butt pad, the finish isn’t just a flat solid color. It’s engraved with a more restrained geometric pattern that echoes the main body, keeping the design language consistent across the entire weapon.

The mythic resonance of “flame” — a searing, mysterious power. Beneath the ornate golden engraving flows a destructive flame motif, the source of this skin’s mythic character: a flame full of motion and tension spreads across the body. The flame is rendered as a highly stylized flowing form, like molten lava in motion, packed with immense energy on the verge of erupting.

This distinctive flame design immediately calls to mind the powerful fire spirits of Arabian mythology—“Ifrit” (伊夫里特) or “Djinn” (genies/jinn). Many of the skins in this round of Steam Workshop submissions are themed around these two fire spirits. The whole weapon feels enchanted by this ancient, violent supernatural force, like a mythic eruption of flame and rage.

A perfect balance of material and color—This skin strikes a strong balance between color and texture, with contrast that feels bold without looking messy. The base of the rifle—the grip, the main stock, and similar areas—uses a dark gray tone, which sets off the ornate gold detailing and the heat of the flame motif.

The barrel takes the form of a burning flame trail, starting at the body and gradually dying out toward the muzzle. The golden finish and fading fire carry the look all the way until it settles into silence.

The design perfectly captures the core of “Sovereign Flame”—it carries the majesty and opulence of a monarch ruling supreme, while commanding a mythic, violent force of destruction.

The creator’s original design featured a clear, translucent scope lens, though for some reason the version added to the game has a much rougher-looking scope.

This skin uses the Gunsmith finish style, with a float range 0–1. It holds up very well to wear, and wear does not affect the overall integrity of the finish. However, the skin’s gold engravings and flame elements darken as they wear. As wear increases, the gold areas take on an orange-red look, with deeper roughness and speckling, which also reduces the skin’s brightness.
