CS Skin Showcase: UMP-45 | K.O. Factory

BUFFAssistant

Jame Time! Welcome to this skin showcase. This time, let’s take a look at the unique design of this underrated finish—the pink Classified skin from the Fever Case, UMP-45 | K.O. Factory!

This skin was a collaborative submission by creators SayChains and WetQa🌿. Originally titled OLD CARTOON—meaning old animation—it was renamed K.O. Factory after being added to the game because of its factory theme. Its Chinese server translation is K.O. Factory.

Back in the last century, most hand-drawn 2D animation used the classic rubber-hose cartoon style. Characters had no joints in their limbs and could stretch freely. Hand-drawn animation was enormously time-consuming at the time, while rubber-hose designs did not require animators to calculate joint movement. Representative examples included Popeye and Mickey Mouse. Their stories were wildly imaginative, and their rubber-hose bodies let characters pull off all kinds of unbelievable, physics-defying movements, greatly boosting the humor and visual impact of cartoons. CS also has stickers such as Strong Arm and Good Form that use this retro rubber-hose art style:

The creators designed this skin line to evoke a retro, nostalgic atmosphere and pay tribute to animation’s golden age. They produced a range of old-cartoon-inspired finishes across different skins, all built around that bold, thick-lined style. From that series, Valve ultimately chose this UMP-45 to add to the game and assigned it Classified rarity.

At a glance, you can see that this skin uses a “factory” theme, imagining how the weapon works with a wildly creative concept.

This skin incorporates gears, machinery, and metal elements. You can see thick-lined bullets being fed into firing one by one, while the firing element itself is shaped like a boxing glove. When you pull the trigger, the bullets are fired out.

The entire weapon is coated in a high-saturation yet faded color scheme typical of vintage animation, complete with instrument-like elements, all kinds of control valves, and indicator lights.

The design on the other side of the skin is slightly different from the front. That side of the weapon features a smiling expression and a red display screen, with the bullets positioned right at the ejection port—as if saying goodbye to the shell casings there.

On the stock, there’s a small dashboard-like element along with the words 1937, OLD, and ACE. Even though the number can look more like 7937 at first glance, I think the thick-lined art style points to 1937—a nod to the golden age of retro animation.

In the first-person view, you can spot even more tiny gauges, which makes the visual design feel especially packed with detail.

Rubber-hose animation marks an important stage in the history of animation art. It represents the point where animation began to move from a simple visual novelty focused on motion into a mature art form capable of telling complex stories and shaping memorable characters. Its simple, direct, and energetic qualities still let viewers feel animation’s most original charm today.

This skin uses the Gunsmith finish style, with a wear range of 0 to 1, and it includes a normal map. Its wear pattern strips away the top layer of paint. At high wear, most of the coating is worn off, but the raised contours remain visible.

The creators also designed a series of other OLD CARTOON-style finishes, such as:

AWP (First Version)

The fired-bullet design is meant to evoke ignition, with a little character peeking through the scope, and a nice touch on the magazine where the bullets are shown being loaded one by one by hand.

Second Edition

More mechanical elements have been added, with machinery replacing manual labor.

Easter Egg Breakdown: Why Jame Time? Because this weapon occupies an unusual niche: up close, its fire rate falls short of standard SMGs, while at range it cannot compete with rifles. That awkward handling and role mean it rarely appears in matches. Former Virtus.pro captain Jame, however, was skilled with this weapon. It is inexpensive, offers respectable tap-fire accuracy and damage, and even if it is dropped and recovered by the opposing side, it is difficult for them to make full use of its strengths. Even without Jame, Virtus.pro's veteran players may still occasionally buy this weapon. Although Virtus.pro did not qualify for the Major, Jame has returned to top-tier competition.

Speaking of Jame, that stern-faced man has become hooked on writing poetry. He’s written quite a lot lately—whenever he has a moment, he’ll pen a short passage, then go play some matches. What a pleasant life. For example, here’s something he wrote before yesterday’s match: В небе тает облако — и я так же растворяюсь, отдаваясь мигу. (A cloud melts away in the sky— and I, too, gradually dissolve, lost in this moment.)

This man is already completely immersed in his own art...
