Sticker Meme Encyclopedia: Game Console Tamagotchi Sticker—Digi-Strike
A pixel-display Lenticular Sticker, "Digi-Strike," was added in the Sticker update. So what does this Sticker look like?
This Sticker was designed based on the Charm “Tamagotchi.” Tamagotchi is Bandai’s virtual pet device series, first released in November 1996. This quirky “pet game device” became a worldwide hit as soon as it launched, kicked off a virtual-pet craze, and became a childhood memory for an entire generation.
So the creator 🍀toxic³⁴² had a spark of inspiration and designed a “game-console Lenticular Sticker” based on it. The pixel-art theme, oval toy-like shell, and simple buttons all came together to form this Sticker’s design. The Charm was designed around the “ice cream” element from Italy. The earliest version had a richer look, with fruit elements and map elements from Italy added to the handheld console. In this version, the little Charm used a “chicken” element.
But in the end, the creator went with a new, more minimalist look and replaced the idle little chicken on the sticker with an ice cream.
This Lenticular Sticker includes outline color shifts, text color shifts, and a Lenticular image change. The lenticular animation is a simple little sequence featuring the monster character: it happily pulls out an ice cream, only to accidentally drop it on the ground.
The text in the lower-left corner of the Stickerストライカーmeans “Striker,” the Striker from Counter-Strike. The creator designed Easter eggs for two different scrape stages of the Sticker: you can scrape off the handheld console’s screen to show what’s inside it, such as a Sticker or a specific weapon finish.
The second Sticker Easter egg is revealed by scrape awaying the handheld-console part, leaving the main Japanese text “ストライカー” in place, with the text keeping its holo effect.
The creator designed Paper, Glitter, Holo, and Lenticular Sticker designs in different finishes, and Valve ultimately chose the animated Lenticular style. Which one do you like best?
Meanwhile, the Charm " Lil' Chirp " added to the game in the same release is the same kind of pixel-display handheld, letting players "raise a little chicken" on their weapon, with the handheld's color scheme changing based on different pattern templates. Have you ever played with this kind of handheld?
